System Requirements for VisualApplets 3.7.0#

PC and Operating System#

  • OS: Microsoft Windows 10 (64 bit), and Windows 11 (64 bit)
  • PC Memory: Minimum 4 GByte, recommended: 32 GByte or better
  • Minimum available hard disk space: 2 GByte

Third-Party Software#

  • For compiling the SDK examples, a C++ compiler is necessary.
  • Depending on the target platform (FPGA type) of the applets designed with VisualApplets, you need to install Xilinx Vivado or Xilinx ISE. Note that Xilinx ISE doesn't support Windows 11. For details, see below.

The table below lists all Basler target hardware and the required Xilinx ISE and/or Vivado licenses.

Note that for building designs for mE5 marathon frame grabbers, it is strongly recommended to use Xilinx Vivado. Using Xilinx Vivado, the build process is much faster, and more complex designs can be fitted on the FPGA.

  2. Xilinx ISE officially doesn't support Windows 11. If your platform needs to be built with Xilinx ISE, install VisualApplets on a Windows 10 operating system. In this forum discussion, you will find some workarounds for installing ISE under Windows 11, even though this is officially not supported. ↩

  3. Applets for the microEnable 5 marathon VCL, and microEnable 5 marathon VCLx platforms can't be built with Vivado versions between 2020.2 and 2021.1; see Known Issues VisualApplets Release 3.7.0, entry with ticket ID 217879 in Xilinx section. ↩↩↩↩↩

  4. Vivado version 2024.1 might lead to freezes of VisualApplets version 3.4.0 or lower. In VisualApplets version 3.4.1 this has been fixed. However, this VisualApplets version has been tested to work best with Vivado 2023.2, so Basler doesn't recommend using a higher version of Vivado.   5. Vivado version 2024.2 might lead to crashes of VisualApplets version 3.5.0 or lower. In VisualApplets version 3.5.1 this has been fixed. However, this VisualApplets version has been tested to work best with Vivado 2023.2, so Basler doesn't recommend using a higher version of Vivado.
